Mayor urges Mirians to take health precautions in facing the present hazy and hot weather, refrain from causing bush fire
and stop open burning totally
During the present dry spell, lots of bush fire cases have been reported in Miri. The air pollution is getting from bad to worse. Everywhere you can notice the tiny particles of burnt ashes are filling the open air, entering homes and offices. In light of this, the Mayor of Miri City is urging Mirians to take health precautions, especially doing their routine activities outside and, if necessary should wear face mask for protection against air pollution. He advises people to avoid outdoor activities if possible and drink lots of water. Meanwhile, he urges people to be more cautious so as not to cause any bush fires and fire outbreak. The practice of open-burning should be totally prohibited.
The Mayor expressed thanks to the personnel of Fire Prevention and Rescue Department (BOMBA) for their untiring and great efforts. They have risked their health to safeguard public and private properties and contain the spread of wild fire in giving us a better and fresh air during the present unpleasant environment. Likewise the general public should give their full co-operation to them and together to face the present bad weather.
