Sarawak ready to work with PH goverment, Abang Jo say it again

SPAOH: The state GPS government is always ready to co-operate with the PH government, Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg says again today.

He said this was in the overall interest of the state development and progress.

“But if their policies are bad for us, we will fight,” he said.

He said this at a Leaders-With-The People session at the community hall here which was also attended by his deputy Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah, Minister For Education, Science and Technological Research Dato Sri Micheal Manyin and the Minister For Local Government and Housing Datuk Prof. Dr. Sim Kui Hian.

Having said this, Abang Johari said Sarawak was but best ruled by local leaders from local based parties.

“In this way we can work out and implement our own development policies and plan with minimum interference or having to go through consensus like when we were formerly with the Barisan Nasional.

“We can then continue fighting for the return of the state fights started by the late Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem.

“The GPS government’s policy is always to prioritise Sarawak and its people,” he said.

Meanwhile, Abang Johari gave the assurance that he would deliver all promises made.

“I will deliver with the help of my colleagues whatever promises made.

“I am not a liar. Lying is sin and I do not want to be questioned over unkept promises or lying in after life,” he said.

“Just give us time to implement as any big development projects will need careful planning before they can be implemented.

“There is no element of hank panky as we have also engaged the MACC to work with us” he added.

On his two-day visit to the Betong Division, he said it was to see problems on the ground in the efforts to serve the people well.

He added the Division had great potentials for modern agriculture.

The government, he added, would develop all necessay infrastructure.

These included an airport near Spaoh and enhancing the digital infrastructure where 39 telecommunications towers would be built for better connectivity.

At the function, Abang Johari announced approval of a number of projects for Spaoh.

These included a sports complex costing RM14 million, Sungai Spaoh Waterfront beautification project costing RM6.4 million, a RM4.6 million new sub district office, a new steel truss bridge crossing the Paku River costing RM5.7 million and a RM35 million Surie/Turie Road.

Later Abang Johari also visited Luban Ulu near here where he performed the earth breaking ceremony for a communication tower.

The tower costing about RM1 million is a project of the Sarawak Multimedia Authority.

Speaking at the function he said the state government planned to build 300 such towers statewide this year at the cost of RM1 billion.

“Then, next year we will build another 300 next year.

“This is our effort to transform the state where we stress on digital management and digital economy,” he said.SuaraSarawak
